Florian Thalhofer and Juliane Henrich traveled 2562 km all over Germany to talk to people that still have a German flag outside their houses. They met astonishing people with all kinds of different German accents.

When the artist Holger Mohaupt visited Györ, a small town in the south of Hungary he was fascinated by the local people and their diverse means of navigating the city. He developped a non-linear journey using the Korsakow-System software that reflects on some of his observations.

EsoDoc is a EU’s Media Plus training initiative that encourages documentary film makers to work in the areas of human rights, social justice and environmental protection. ESoDoc offers three 1-week sessions held over a 6-month period, during which participants develop a documentary film projects.

This is the second round of three. I am invited to go to the Baltic Sea: Minhauzena Unda, Saulkrasti (Latvia). Almost ready to start my motorcycle. Almost - it is 3 am: sitting at the computer in Berlin trying to figure out how to get North-European Maps into the brand-new GPS-device.

Berliner Jugendliche und Erwachsene erkunden unter der Leitung des Medienkünstlers Florian Thalhofer auf einer sechstägigen Tour den Grenzverlauf um das damalige West-Berlin. Unterwegs mit Fahrrad, Zelt und Schlafsack sowie Videokamera und Audiogerät dokumentieren sie ihre Eindrücke und Interviews mit Anwohnern der ehemaligen Grenze.

Now available: [Forgotten Flags] - a Korsakow-film for PC and Mac

Germans think that showing the national flag is sinister. World Cup soccer in 2006 brought about a notable swing. Germans overcame — temporarily — their fear of association with right-wing nationalism. They were proud of their fatherland and put out flags en masse for the first time.

2562 kilometers - Florian Thalhofer and Juliane Henrich travelled through Germany looking for the forgotten flags of the soccer-world-cup and their owners.

The result is the Korsakow-Film [Forgotten Flags] that was just released on DVD-Rom by Mediamatic, Amsterdam. The DVD comes with a bonus-track: [small world] - Florian Thalhofer’s first nonlinear photo-film on what it is like to grow up in a small town.
